Liberland on the World Stage: A Decade of Freedom Makes Headlines

As the Free Republic of Liberland celebrated its 10th anniversary, international media spotlighted its evolution from bold vision to functioning microstate. President Vít Jedlička’s appearance on WGN-TV Morning News brought Liberland’s story to a global audience, marking a milestone not only for the country’s development — but for its recognition in the mainstream conversation on liberty, blockchain governance, and the future of the state.

On the 10th anniversary of its founding, the Free Republic of Liberland reaffirmed its place as one of the world’s most ambitious political and technological projects. What began on April 13, 2015, as a bold declaration of sovereignty by President Vít Jedlička has grown into a global community of citizens, entrepreneurs, blockchain pioneers, and defenders of individual liberty. Ten years later, Liberland stands not as a utopian dream, but as a functioning microstate advancing a serious alternative to centralized government.

The anniversary celebrations took place from April 11 to 13, 2025, at the Liberland Ark Village, the official settlement project located near the Danube. There, citizens, ambassadors, digital nomads, and innovators gathered for three days of speeches, workshops, networking events, and strategy sessions aimed at expanding Liberland’s reach and deepening its institutional presence. The atmosphere was festive but purposeful: this was not a nostalgic tribute to the past but a strategic milestone for the future.

One of the highlights was President Jedlička’s appearance on WGN-TV Morning News, a major U.S. media outlet, where he presented Liberland’s progress on the global stage. In the interview, he discussed how the nation has developed a voluntary governance model, issued thousands of e-residencies and citizenships, adopted a blockchain-based economy via the Liberland Dollar (LLD), and attracted investors, developers, and free thinkers from more than 100 countries.

Jedlička emphasized that Liberland’s governance is built on firm philosophical ground: it operates without coercion, taxation is voluntary, and all interactions between the state and its citizens are based on consent. He framed Liberland not as a breakaway or symbolic gesture, but as a serious contender in the redefinition of statehood in the 21st century. “We are not trying to fix the old systems,” he said. “We are building something better from the ground up.”

The interview came at a time of increasing visibility for Liberland. Its native currency, LLD, has seen a surge in activity, and its institutions continue to expand. With diplomatic missions now present in dozens of countries and key partnerships emerging in the blockchain and Web3 sectors, Liberland is positioning itself as both a haven for innovators and a lighthouse for the liberty-minded.

The 10th anniversary was not just a celebration — it was a declaration: Liberland is here, it is growing, and it is ready to lead.
